Thomas School History
As you drive the county side of Bradford County, imagine a time when each 4 miles marked another school. Originally located on Rt. 14 between Troy and Canton, our one room school accurately represents the school experience for many in Bradford County from the mid 1800’s and early 1900’s. Our village school was used from 1844 to 1924. It was converted to a machinery shed until acquired in 2007. The school today is fully furnished and appears much like it was when last in use. It has the original stove, blackboard and the donated bell came from Alba School
Moving crew included: Dale Palmer, Bruce Staudt, Ivan Pettitt, Glenn Taylor, Dough Leiby, Jack Andrus, Dave McKerrow, La Rue Thorp, Robert Storch, Dale Bohner, Chris Staudt and others. Thomas School Update
Thomas One Room School House 2007 The Thomas One Room School, graciously donated by Richard and Virginia Thomas was dismantled and reconstructed on the Museum grounds. Thanks to generous monetary gifts from Russell & Joyce Grinnell, Mildred Wright (last teacher on record who taught there in 1923-1924), and Linda Mutzer.
